I found that by looking up a road or two on Google Maps and then scrolling around you can find what look like some seriously twisty roads. :)

This poor dude crashed at about 20 mph.  He was wearing shorts and a t-shirt without a helmet and got all sorts of messed up.

Bio-diesel powered motorcycle eclipses 100mpg

Wow!   100mpg is not bad at all and being bio-diesel makes motorcycles look like a much more green alternative to transportation.  It'll be interesting to see which (if any) of the commercial motorcycle manufacturers get interested in such a creation.

AAA Decries Michigan's HB 4749 that Will Change Motorcycle Helmet Laws

There is a new law that is being debated in Michigan that will allow you to opt out of wearing a helmet.  AAA is out against it and cites statistics that indicate huge increases in costs and fatalities associated with repealing helmet laws.

Dr. Juan Fitz, and emergency medicine specialist says that the "single most important thing to do when riding a motorcycle . . . is to wear a helmet to protect your head."  He also recommends wearing other gear to protect the rest of you from impact and abraison.

Riding a Motorcycle Should Include Some Fear

I've seen the "No Fear" shirts, stickers and other paraphernalia and each time thought that "Know Fear" would be much more appropriate.

Have some fear associated with motorcycling is a good thing.  Fear is an evolutionary trait that helps you avoid danger and keeps you alive.  Of course, there's no reason to have un-abaited, un-founded fear, but some is good for you.

Richard Chang, a complete newbie, recently took and MSF course and wrote a great article (although inappropriately titled IMHO) about his impressions and thoughts on motorcycling in general.

One of his observations (which he put very succinctly) underpins my entire reason for this site: "people tend to take motorcycle riding more lightly than the corresponding risk deems they should."

Richard, it sounds like you had a good time with the course and learned a lot.  Keep the shiny side up and have fun riding.
